Zoltan Posted May 20, 2025 Posted May 20, 2025 Before I ask my question, I just want to clarify that yes, I did read this post from angulion about installing the mod pack via Lutris. In his guide, when he selects WoWS in his game menu, he has a drop-down menu next to "Platform: Windows" where he can select "Run EXE inside Wine prefix" to run the mod pack installer wizard. I don't have this, I assume because I'm not using the official WG launcher, but rather using Steam from my distro's repositories. For me, I see "Platform: Linux" with no drop-down menu at all. I know that I could just use the WG launcher to fix this, but the problem is that the whole reason that I even have WoWS on Steam to begin with is because it was easier to just make a new account and launch the game through Steam. I don't even use my account bound to my WG launcher anymore, even when I play on Windows. Therefore, at this point I would much prefer to get the modpack (or at least the mods within it) working with my game via Steam. All of that said, I have two questions that I want to ask for the purposes of both practicality and curiosity. First, is it still possible to get the mod pack to work with WoWS installed via Steam, or is having the WG launcher installed via Lutris/Wine required for the mod pack to work? Second, can I just use the mod pack to install the mods on my Windows computer, then copy the Steam files for WoWS over to Linux? The Steam directory structure on Linux is basically identical to Windows. There are a couple of minor differences, but the steamapps directory where game files and mods go is 100% identical to the steamapps directory on Windows. And as far as I can tell, the mod pack is basically just a dedicated mod manager for WoWS. It doesn't install any binaries, it just selects mod files and places them in their appropriate directories. If this is correct, then I should be able to manually install my mods by simply placing the files into their appropriate directories manually. All I need to do is get the files, which I should be able to just copy from my Windows machine. Alternatively I could just get them from their respective sources, but copy-pasting would be faster and easier. I know I won't be able to update my mods directly when a new version of the mod pack is released, but I figure I can just repeat the manual process when there is an update. Would this work? Quote
armanjakki Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I did it in lutris. In upper left corner hit "plus" and then " install windows game from executable. Then give some name to the installation. Next give it directory. I did the one that opened by default. Then open aslains mod pack that You downloaded with the "three dots" and then install. Installer will open and ask install folder. There is empty bar and right to it is arrow down. There You must find installation location. I have C and Z drives. On Z I have Z:\home\"my name"\.steam\steam\steamapps\common\World of Tanks\eu. Select that and then select mods that You want. Quote
