Ribbon Placement buggy in 14.4.0 v5 + v6

Hi Aslain,

since Mod Pack 14.4.0 v5 I have a problem with the ribbon placement as u can see in the attached file.

The ribbons are sitting on top of the damage dealt numbers.

Hoped, this would change with the new version, but it's the same after installing v6.

Just wanted to hear, if u already know about this or if other players are dealing with same issues.

So far, I did not fully remove the mod pack and re-install it from scratch, cause maybe this won't help either, if it's really bugged.

Any other suggestions or infos?

Greetz and thanks in advance -

Silver

If you don't hide the team panels it should be in the right place. Have you tried to enable them? It's due to the Top Panels you have installed and your choices there.

I'm a little confused by your answer, Aslain, cause I did not change my mod selection for some time (half a year/ a year) and did not change any settings on the top panels.

The ribbon placement started to be off with installing the mod pack 14.4.0 v5 (so the last one), though I did not change anything, just installed it with my typical selection.

I am hiding the top panels since 5 years now or even longer and never had an issue with the ribbon placement. And I do not want to reactivate the top panels at all.

So I will now take another look at the menu for the top panels and otherwise remove the whole mod pack and re-install it, maybe that helps.

That's all I can tell without checking your logs (see my post signature for them). So you are saying if you install modpack v4, it's working fine? Show me some proof like video or screenshot from v4 then from v5, and also battle replay.

I can just say, that I can't remember seeing having that issue at all and noticed it first, after I installed v5 and it still remained after installing v6 and now v7.

Can't proof this, cause I do not take any screenshots from gameplay at all, especially when not facing any issues. Replays are mostly gone, as I delete the old replay folder with every new update of the game. Need to search if I have anything saved from v4. If so I will post it.

Might also try a safe mode launch coop battle to see, if this issue is then gone, which I am pretty sure will be the case. (edit: can confirm that - placement is just fine in safe mode)

Not a big deal for me, as I barely notice this at all - only time it is slightly annoying is when u wanna look up ur damage dealt during a battle and it is blocked at that moment. Just let the ribbons settle and u can see it again.

And as I said, just wanted to know if this is something I might fix easily without a fresh setup and selecting all mods by hand again. That might be the easiest option to get it back to "normal" if there were any hiccups throughout one of the last installations. This will be the next step and hopefully it's fixed then.

Ok, issues are dealt with, everything is back to normal.

Did de-install/remove all mods, then ran the integrity check and repair function in the launcher, re-added my mod selection in v8, which was newly available, and tested everything in the practise room: No more overlapping ribbons so far.

After installing v14.5.0 v2 this problem now occured again, ribbons were overlapping the damage counter when gathering up (seen it only with secondary hits ribbons so far).

So I decided to deinstall the mod pack and afterwards using the repair function of the launcher again (as it worked last time).

Checked for updates and downloaded the v3 mod pack, which was out meanwhile.

Now I am getting an error message when the program extracts the Gold Premium Ships zip file (ShipPreviews_Gold_Premium_Ships_14.5.0.7z).

Followed the instructions and deleted the zip file in the mentioned folder (DL_cache) and gave it a second try - same result.

No big deal for me, as I deleted the zip file again and reinstalled everything else. Wil adopt to play without this mod from now on.

Hopefully, the ribbon problem is dealt with for some time now, too. If not, I will come back and update this.

Having played some asym. battles, I now can confirm, that the ribbon problem still isn't solved.

Played Rupprecht and Schlieffen and the moment you have 3 different ribbons in the normal spot way under the damage counter and just above the minimap, the moment the 4th different ribbon shows up, the first jumps up overlapping the damage counter and sits way above the 3 other ribbons.

Too lazy to now again try the repair function of the launcher to see if the messed up Gold_Premium_Ship mod installation screwed something up, so another repair might fix this.

Think, I will just live with it..

Unpacking the Gold Premium icons is my bug, I fixed it yesterday, but for whatever reason the file I uploaded was with no fix. Redownload the modpack #03b

The ribbons issue you have, I'm still waiting for the logs and replay file and explanation there. Also screenshot from the top minipanel settings window.

Hi Aslain, took some time to get everything you requested, for I am mainly playing the game and not always paying attention to the ribbon placement.

Additonally, this problem does not occur always, as you will notice when taking a look at my attached replay of the Schlieffen battle. Jump to the remaining time stamp of 14:25 to see the overlap happen. Before, everything was fine - even when having multiple rows of ribbons.

Also attached the log file you asked for.

Wasn't sure, what you mean by minipanel settings window. Attached a screenshot of the Wows options menu, where I disabled the side panels as I already mentioned. In addition (cause this is surely not worth a screenshot ;)), I took another screenshot in a coop battle of the options menu at the top, where all the installed mods are shown (including the opened build viewer). If this isn't what you requested, you need to tell me, what to do exactly and where to find the specific settings you need.

Not sure, if this is worth the time I already spent on this, but I also wanted to provide the data as I opened up the bug report.

Hope that helps..

That's even worse looking, cause the mod placement seems to be all over the place.

And did the overlap also happen here at said time stamp? Isn't that what mattered to look after?

I dont know, looks normal to me. The top panel may slightly overlap on that ribbons, but it was laways like that. These panels at the top are no longer updated by anyone, and we will have to say goodbye to them at some point because I don't know any other creators who would want to create them from a scratch or keep maintaining.

Ok, that's weird, cause I would have expected that issue to be visible in the replay for everyone.

I'm noticing also, that the placement of all the top panels is off in comparison to the placement in my screenshots.

And now knowing that these are old mods and not updated anymore, I might have to change them to something else or even go vanilla, as I'm not really a fan of any of the alternatives. Nevertheless, thanks for taking a second look..😉
