Traskus Posted December 5, 2025 Posted December 5, 2025 I have two requests for mods that alter/remove fixed tank skins - one already exists and could easily be added to the modpack, while the other one should be fairly simple to create. The existing mod was created by Desyatnik_Pansy (who also created one of the skybox mods currently included in the modpack). It reverts the awful black/grey paintjob from the 2025 lootbox tanks (XM57, DZT-159, etc.) to the national colours they were initially released with (both on the models AND the carousel icons). You can find it here: https://wgmods.net/6992/ The other mod - the one I hope can be created - would do the same thing (replace skins and carousel icons) for a few other tanks: Obsidian --> TITT Rozanov Nergal --> Crusher Stitch --> Chi-Se M47 Iron Arnie --> M47 Patton Improved Hurricane --> CS-63 Stinger --> T57 Heavy Ashbringer --> 60TP Seeing as all of these tanks have unskinned versions AND carousel icons, it shouldn't be too hard to switch all of them to the unskinned assets. Before you suggest using Limpid Stickers - which I already do - keep in mind that it doesn't work for certain vehicles (like the Iron Arnie), and it also doesn't replace carousel icons. There are other tanks that could benefit from skin removal as well (like the lootbox reskins WG keeps churning out), but the seven vehicles listed above (particularly the first four) are top priority. In addition, these mods would pair nicely with a text mod I'm working on, which aims to replace fake/incorrect tank names with real ones (or at least something that SOUNDS like a real designation for tanks that are completely fake with no historical inspiration). It's still a work in progress, mind you, so hopefully these skin mods can be taken care of in the meantime. Cheers, and thank you for your time. Quote
Administrator Aslain Posted December 5, 2025 Administrator Posted December 5, 2025 Sorry, it’s a no-go for me. Maintaining such mods in the modpack is a nightmare. I don’t want any reskins or remodels of tanks that rely on scripts or configurations. They break too often between game updates, and their authors aren’t quick enough to fix them. That's a lesson a took from the first 8 years of modpacking. I also can’t verify what needs to be removed until they’re updated, and in the end the modpack crashes. Then I’m stuck spending hours trying to figure it out without any trace in the logs, which is usually the case with these kinds of mods. While I think such mods are really cool and would make a great addition to the modpack, the consequences of including them are too burdensome for me. Quote
Traskus Posted December 5, 2025 Author Posted December 5, 2025 Well, damn, that's a shame. I appreciate the honesty, though. Is it at least possible to manually install mods after setting up the modpack? Seeing as the first mod already exists, I figure I can just take the extra steps to install it the old-fashioned way. I'll also have to figure out how to contact the author directly regarding the second mod idea, since there doesn't seem to be a way to post comments on WGMods. Either way, thanks for responding. Administrator Solution Aslain Posted December 5, 2025 Administrator Solution Posted December 5, 2025 For example, download it from wgmods.net, and pack with this path: mods\version\LootboxTanksNationalColours.wotmod I did it for you: https://www.mediafire.com/file/23zruq6eiht7h5h/LootboxTanksNationalColours_2.1.0.0.7z/file DL it, and copy to c:\Games\World_of_Tanks_EU\Aslain_Modpack\Custom_mods\ Since then, whenever you install the modpack, it will always be included as well. I cannot guarantee that it won’t trigger any compatibility warnings with the current mods in the modpack. Quote
Traskus Posted May 19 Author Posted May 19 I forgot to say this at the time, but thank you very much. 🙂 Quote
