modpack update notification mode

ive noticed always after enter the game i get notification about new modpack update which makes you restart the game which is kinda frustrating.

any other way to notify about update before opening the game? like some process in the background for updates or something..

The installer is informing you about a new version when you launch its exe. The notification in the game has nothing to do with game restarting, the restart is required for some garage mods, and is a must.

I start PC and go directly to game without thinking about modpack, then get notified of an update, which makes me have to restart the game in order to update it. There's that notification you get when you open the modpack.exe, but at this point it makes me always double-check the modpack before I can even start the game. feels a bit inconvenient.

I'm not sure what is this issue, nothing has changed since ages about informing about the new modpack version. Everything is working as intended, maybe you got something wrong. The game restart is required only when you update/reinstall the modpack, and it's due to WG requirements, not a bug.

i get notified about modpack update in the game after i already entered the game, not before.

 

let's say there's an update and the modpack is updated. how do I get notified before I enter the game? at this point I have to go to double check the forum always before I play the game or to double check the modpack.exe always so before I even start the game I have to double check the modpack.exe or the forum. 

 

there's no other solution to get notified before I entered game without opening the modpack.exe or the forum?

 

like I said some kind of Windows process or something like that which notifies you before entering the game without any extra steps?

There is no other way. So just make a habbit of launching the installer daily, if you notice info about new modpack you download it. You can also subscribe to notifications on discord, I always post changelog + download link with a new modpack.

I solved it myself with a small PowerShell script that runs when I click the WGC shortcut. Before WGC opens, it reads my installed modpack version from the installer log file, checks your RSS feed for the latest version, and if they don't match it shows a popup notifying me with both version numbers and a link to the download page. Takes 2 seconds, fully automatic, no extra apps needed.
