NewTimes96 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 World of Warships Steam Client Detection Issue (Aslain Modpack v15.5.0 #08) Issue After reinstalling the Steam version of World of Warships, Aslain's WoWS Modpack v15.5.0 #08 no longer detects the game installation. Error displayed: "The game client was not detected in the specified folder." Before reinstalling the game, the modpack was working correctly on the same PC. Timeline Aslain mods were installed and working normally yesterday. I uninstalled World of Warships because Steam would leave the game stuck on "Stopping" after exiting. Reinstalled the game through Steam. After reinstall, Aslain can no longer detect the game regardless of which folder is selected. System Information Platform: Steam Aslain Modpack: v15.5.0 #08 Steam installation: D:\Steam World of Warships installation: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\World of Warships Troubleshooting Performed Steam Verified integrity of game files twice. Game launches normally. Can reach Port without issues. Executables Verified Verified that both executables exist: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\World of Warships\WorldOfWarships.exe C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\World of Warships\bin\12668706\bin64\WorldOfWarships64.exe Both files are present. Folder Structure Verified Game root contains expected folders/files including: bin lib profile res_packages steam_api64.dll WorldOfWarships.exe Bin Folder Two builds exist: 12506899 12668706 Both contain complete bin64 folders including: WorldOfWarships64.exe No missing executable. Steam Configuration Verified Steam library configuration (libraryfolders.vdf) correctly lists: D:\Steam and C:\SteamLibrary World of Warships (AppID 552990) is assigned to: C:\SteamLibrary App Manifest Verified appmanifest_552990.acf Verified values: installdir = World of Warships StateFlags = 4 buildid = 23670357 MountedConfig = language english Manifest appears correct. Registry Investigation Found stale registry entries from previous installation. Old values referenced: D:\Steam\steamapps\common\World of Warships Removed Aslain installer registry key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Aslains_WoWs_Modpack_Installer Installer recreated settings but detection problem remained. Additional Tests Tested selecting all of the following: C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\World of Warships C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\World of Warships\bin C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\World of Warships\bin\12668706 All produce the same error: "The game client was not detected in the specified folder." Result The game installation appears completely healthy. Steam launches the game normally. Steam manifest is correct. Steam library configuration is correct. Executables are present. Verification passes. Only Aslain fails to detect the installation. Request Could there be a regression or issue in the client detection logic of v15.5.0 #08 for Steam installations? Since the installer worked before the reinstall on the same machine, it appears the detection logic is rejecting an otherwise valid Steam installation. Any guidance or a diagnostic build/logging option would be appreciated. Quote
Administrator Aslain Posted June 29 Administrator Posted June 29 The AI made you very long post I see. Nothing changed in WoWs modpack, so it's just you 😕 Maybe attach logs, see my post signature. Does the game running at all for you? Not sure where is the problenm you have no mods, or no game client? If your game client is not working, try to reinstall it, and point the modpack to that folder. If you didn't manage to install the modpack at all, then look for setup log in your appdata temp folder and attach here. Quote
NewTimes96 Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 Yeah I made the Ai do a detailed report to give u the most info possible what we did. I spend 2hrs trying to figure out why it cannot detect the path. I followed any forum and AI recommendations, i managed to clear the steam version is correctly installed and its not causing issues on me. Should I install the client version and see if i can do the mod installer on that see if it finds it? Thats one of the issues about the logs: there isnt any Aslain Mods file present anywhere with deep search , not in C or D , nothing on %appdata%. There is a file in Ad//Remove Programs but when i try to uninstall it it denies my request. Im not sure what happened today , i had an issue where World of Warships couldnt close in Steam ,days in a row it was ,,Stopping'' in steam and i had to termiante steam to close the game. I decided the game might be broken so I uninstalled it from D and redownloaded it on C cuz its faste there SSD thn HDD and when it was completed , I downlaoded a fresh installer to return my mods and here we are , couldnt find the path.
