Text chat doesn't work until I fire a shot

Okay. I didn't know you ha to click on the chat box. Usually I just have to hit "enter" and it works. Thanks. -
In almost every game I can't use text chat until I fire a shot. Sometimes even after i fire I still can't type in text chat. I did the integrity check and still have this problem.

I have been having random issues with my minimap .. It is there but once every 10 or so games there are no tanks on it and I can't expand or minimize it. Nobody else that doesn't use Aslains mod seems to have that issue. Is this a common complaint here?
