Unable to install Compact carousel with improved ship icons

Don't know why but I download the compact ship carousel with improved ship icons, I still see the standard carousel with standard ships.  I believe that I do see a flash of the compact carousel just before the old one pops up.

   Have you tried to select compact carousel in game? The in game carousel shows your ships and they are grey in color (normal no mod). The mod shows your ships as they appear on the regular carousel but in a compact format.  I do believe that the mod only shows better ships on the carousel when it is selected in game. It does not select it for you. I use this mod and have had no issues with it. Then again I have the carousel selected in game. Give that a try and if that does not work repost here.
