While reading this topic I understood, that there is something related to the custom mods, that makes life easier when there is a new WOT version (some 'version' macro).

Could please someone explain me what it is and where it is and how it is... ;)

    Thanks.

If you look in your World of Tanks folder on your hard drive, you will see an Aslains_Custom_mods folder.  Inside this folder is a README.txt file.  You can open this in Notepad or Notepad++ (recommended).  It explains about the macro.

Now in case you do not know how to use the Aslains_Custom_mods folder here goes:

In the Aslains_Custom_mods folder, create a folder and name it res_mods.  The folder structure inside this folder must be exactly like the structure inside your res_mods folder in your World of Tanks folder where your mods/xvm resides.  Inside this res_mods folder create a folder and name it either the name of the current version, which in the current case is 0.9.16 or you can name it version.  Naming it version instead of the actual version number (0.9.16 etc) is what is meant by the macro and simply means that it does not matter what the current version of the game is at the moment, it will use it.

Now inside this version folder you can put any custom changes that you normally make to your settings or mods.  For example, I use the Battle Assistant mod and the default key to activate it is the G key.  I like to use the F key instead of G.  So I edited the mod_battle:assistant.txt file that resides in World_of_Tanks>0.9.16>scripts>client>gui>mods and changed the key to activate from G to F.  I have created the following folder structure inside the Aslains_Custom_mods folder:   res_mods>version>scripts>client>gui>mods.  I placed my edited mod_battle:assistant.txt file inside this mods folder.  In order for the installer to use this folder structure, you have to save a zip file of the res_mods folder that is in the Aslains_Custom_mods folder.

Here is a screenshot of what is inside my Aslains_Custom_mods folder.  The res_mods.7z is the zipped version of the same res_mods folder you can see there.  You can also save it as a .zip file in case you do not have 7zip.  7zip files are little smaller and more efficient.  But you have to save it as either a zip file or a 7z file in order for the installer to use it.

I hope this has answered your question.  If not, that is ok, I had fun writing it anyway.  :P

I tried it just now and got the same results.  Neither of the two files in my the Aslains_Custom_mods folder were installed into the res_mods folder.  Just for info here is a screenshot of the Aslain Custom Mods folder and the files location in my system.  Logs are below this screenshot.

That file you downloaded (Im assuming you mean the mod in this very topic?) Its one of several files I have in my custom mods folder. That exact zip is in there along with 17 other zip archives, all set up exactly the same (XXX.zip>res_mods>0.9.16>...) Unless the function completely changed how it looks at the folder when Aslain changed the function in build 28 that folder has not changed (and again, if I use the old build 27 installer I still have, everything is installed as expected (though before the DLC mods), and I can see the extractor fire up and copy things from the custom mods folder to res_mods). Literally the only thing that changed in this situation is that I went from build 27 to build 31. And its not worked since build 31 came out.

Could you post the logs from the install you did with my mod, I want to compare it with my most recent build 33 log.

Sure, no problem.  Here you go.  I simply renamed my own res_mods folder in the Aslains Custom folder and placed the res_mods folder from the Google Drive link you provided above.  Then I created a new res_mods.7zip folder and ran the installer.  The usa-A63_M46_Patton_KR files were installed into the correct places in the normal res_mods folder.

I have no idea of how to help you.  If you are sure that you have a res_mods.zip or 7zip file in your Aslains_Custom_mods folder then it should work as it did for me and for Aslain.

    Good luck.

  4. I downloaded your res mods folder and placed the contents in my Aslains_Custom_mods folder and the installer extracted everything and installed it correctly into the res_mods folder.

Are you sure you have everything in your Aslains_Custom_mods folder correct?  You do have the res_mods folder saved as a 7z or zip file?   Just checking....

Ive tried every combination of turning my antivirus off. Ive even gone so far as to uninstall the AV completely and try the install. It just will not execute the custom mods install. Trying with build 27 of the installer (back before you changed when the custom mods are installed), works, and I can even see the extractor.bat in the log myself, but now its just not there. Its like its been yanked from the exe, even if I download a new copy.

extractor.bat is in line 4192 of the Installer.log that you attached.

I mean, Avast is usually pretty good about not doing stupid stuff like that, but I gave it another try with a fresh copy downloaded while Avast was completely turned off. And it was the same thing...  not seeing any entries in the log for extractor.bat. None. Its like it does not exist on my system. And yet, if I go back to build 27, it works.

Is Avast the only thing you have running?  Any other malware or Windows Defender?  Just a crazy suggestion...try a different browser to download to make sure it is not browser based.

Did you try downloading the installer with anti virus turned off?  Sometimes AV will block stuff on download.  but if it did, it should tell you it blocked something.  I do not have any problems with my AV and the modpack.

    Good luck.

What type of battle it was in the screenshot? Have you been platooning with someone?

That "-1" is also in the original config from XVM

The last time I platooned was the day before the screenshot.  I don't remember exactly when the labels changed, I will pay attention now if I platoon again.

So far, the -9 setting has worked  I will keep playing and see if it changes.

Maybe this is the problem again...

  9. I solved the problem.

minimapLabelsTemplates.xc: under "nickspotted" in line 75 the y value was set to -1.  I set it to -9 which is the same as the setting in the minimapLabelsTemplatesAlt.xc file.

I do not have anything xvm related in my Aslains_Custom_mods folder...only the 0.9.16 folder...not even a configs folder.  So this setting is placed there by the installer.  I do not understand why it could not have been reproduced when you tested it.  Oh well....I guess it is best that I dont understand everything....:P

  10. Strange that you can't reproduce it.

The labels when a tank is no longer spotted are correct and on two different lines.  It is only when the tanks are visible that the nick and tank name are on the same line.  And with the setup in my logs above, when I press Alt, the labels are a short nick on the top line and complete nick on the bottom line.

I dont have any old fonts installed because of my OS reinstall/new hard drive from 10 days ago.  Everything is from the last 10 days.  I have tried different settings in the game client, but nothing changes.

Any idea from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

    And having it yet again...

Was happy with modack .25 all the time and suddenly it had that shit esacpe problem for 100% of the games again.

    Updated to .28 still continues.

    This time i don't have

    • "better crosshair" but damocles
    • gambiters but xvm damage log

Sometimes I have the same problem the first battle that I play, I do ctrl (strng) Alt  delete (Entf) to get to the task manager where I will end the task World of Tanks.  When I restart the client, it usually will work perfectly for the rest of the session....and usually the rest of the day.

Damocles Sword will not load properly when this happens as in that it is not working at all.  I have a standard crosshair.

To Aslain:  in the Python logs below, the problem happened in the first battle from today 31 October.  I restarted as I stated above and everything worked fine.
