  2. As stated above already, the question of mods being "acceptable", is up to people themselves. Everyone is going to have a different opinion about it. As far as increasing skill goes, I think that some mods really help you to perform better, than you would without using any. Sometimes, you can really only be better while using certain mods. For example, if you have very low situational awareness, using atac or enemy direction indicators can help you paying more attention when it's needed. Other times, you can even learn how to play better in the long run as well. If you start using hitskins and learn more weakspots, you may end up remembering them better and skip them after a while. And if mods do nothing for people, then who even cares if they use any? But even if you don't learn to play better in the long run, the slight, temporary improvements are making the game a little bit more fun, Imo. When really bad players start performing better, it's nicer for your own team. And if enemies are more challenging (not overpowering), then that equals more fun for me as well. Facerolling everything or not being able to do anything, makes you lose interest in the game faster too, I think. So, I guess, forcing vanilla wouldn't be a good idea for the overall game. Bad players would stay really bad (or stay bad longer), enjoy playing less and will probably leave sooner. And bad players is what WoT is based on, for the most part. Ultimately, I'm of the opinion that mods help keeping people interested in the game more. Either by making them better players, giving them the illusion of performing better or simply giving them something new in an old game. Douchebags will always find ways to use dirty stuff, in order to feel better about themselves, anyway and banning all mods isn't going to stop them from using any or exploiting something else.
  3. Not like I'm platooning a lot but I agree that the window is too big, for "normal" (1920x1080) and lower resolutions. Putting it all down on the bottom though, that wouldn't work for me either. There's just so much wasted space in that window, Imo. Could remove the "leave platoon" button, since you can just close the window and get the "leave?" message anyway. Putting the "invite player" and "ready" buttons on the same level would also free up valueable space. Locating the chat between player list and "ready"/"invite player" buttons or just below those 2, might make the whole thing rather small and chat better to read. Just my 2 cents on the subject, in case there's actually someone trying to make something like this. =P
  4. Could you be a bit more specific and maybe attach a screenshot? =3 Are they your platoon-mates perhaps?
  5. Not sure what you mean about the logs but you can, normally, upload add the file(s) to your post as well. Below the reply-window, there is a button with "More Reply Options" and on the following page you can use the "Attach Files" button and use that. That being said, one could test if your selection is causing it but if it doesn't, we're as smart as before. As for previous versions of the installer, you can check http://aslain.com/index.php?/topic/2256-where-can-i-download-previous-versions-of-aslains-mod/ for that but they only have up to version .9.
  6. I know what you mean but it's not quite true, that if an earlier version works, then the new one has to work as well. Everything is constantly being updated (libraries of runtimes, antivirus files, system files, etc.). If something is updated on Aslain's end and someone is still using outdated files or an antivirus/system security update doesn't recognize something new as safe, then it can create conflicts. It's still possible, that this is caused by a certain mod-selection but it's also hard to tell, if not everyone is using the same software as a baseline.
  7. Personally, I haven't had this issue at all, with multiple versions of the installer. Please try out some of the things mentioned above and also clear the DLC content (if you didn't already), as well as clearing the cache (via installer). Backup your preferences.xml though, before you clear the cache (so you won't have to edit the ingame settings again, afterwards).
  8. Does the rest of XVM for though? I can't read log, since I'm a noob but you could try a few things, to see if the error is on your end (PC config). You coul try disabling any protective software (antivirus, etc.) during install and/or when running the game. Perhaps running installer/game as admin and/or trying to run the game from a different drive (not OS one or specifically OS one) could be worth trying as well. Other than that, make sure that you also have all your software up to date (windows update, runtimes via like https://ninite.com/ , etc.). Just some stuff you could check, while waiting for a more helpful answer, I suppose.
  9. Installed .11 earlier and had some custom files being installed and some didn't. Only using sound mods, where all the files are in 1 .zip file and supposed to go into res_mods > 0.9.7 > audio. Music mod worked and 6th sense stayed from what I selected in the installer. Copying them over manually works. So, I'm assuming that the directories haven't changed? python.log _Aslain_logs.zip
  10. I would, probably, go about like this: - change keys in vanilla and then apply mods (as suggested in the thread you posted). - try not installing mods that you can choose the keybinds in the installer with (like Battle Assistant for SPG, etc.) - mainly newer ones
  11. What kind of "scoring" are you referring to? Only thing I could think of, is that the "expected tank values" got updated. If the values for expected damage, in certain tanks, got increased in that list, then you will receive less WN8 for the same damage, than before. http://forum.wotlabs.net/index.php?/topic/17169-wn8-expected-values-v18-update/page-2
  12. I noticed similar behaviour with the custom mods. Sometimes it overwrites the files and sometimes it doesn't (I check sound mods in the installer, so the directories will be created and all the vanilla sound files will be copied to there). Could post your logs, so Aslain can have a look at them. Should be easy for Aslain to check though, if it's something in the installer that's not right (custom stuff not getting installed last or something).
  13. You using AutoEquip or AutoTelescope? Had similar issues with the latter, iirc. Try using AutoEquip, if you you don't already.
  14. Looks like ingame graphics settings can cause the servercross to bekome blurry. Try increasing the Texture Quality, in Settings > Graphics > Details.
  15. Don't quote me on that but I'm assuming that #5 can't be done. Afaik, those reload-timers are merely estimates and you can't access player-specific information, such as crew skills and equipement/consumables. Otherwise, such a mod would exist as well, since it's much more "useful" as only for the reload.
  16. Probably a very interesting stance but I think, that pretty much every mod gives an advantage/disadvantage. It's simply depending on what you do with the certain information given and who utilizes it. For example, you could say that even contour icons and/or XVM give you an advantage, because you can determine the enemy's setup far more quickly (especially inexperienced players) and therefore make more informed decisions, more quickly. On the other hand, even with all the information in the world, people who can't utilize these infos don't benefit from them as much. So it really depends on who is using what and how. Guess, you'd have to specify in which environment the mods come into play (tier 9/10, mainly with very experienced players, in e-sports, etc.) and how much of a potential the specific mods might have - which still doesn't mean that everyone can actually make the most use of that. Things that are part of the standard game ("gold" ammo, etc.) don't really bother me too much. If the developer thinks that they are good to use, then that's either fine with me or I would have to stop to play. It's WG's job to balance that stuff out and as long as enough people accept it and the game isn't completely unplayable, it'll stay anyhow. With all that being said, try-hards will always use everything they can, in order to look better than they actually are. They just don't realize that or have any shame about it. I think that it's simply up to everyone individually, to determine what kind of people they want to be.
  17. I've been using auto-aim (without the highlighting feature), like no tomorrow, with 4.3.8 yesterday. Had no crashes in about ~100 games. Still small sample size but I don't think the mod itself is faulty; maybe in combination with other mods though. Only crash I had, was when I added Allied Silouhettes. Not sure if it's related but I also experienced 2 issues that could originate from auto-aim or crosshair mod. One is, when I still had the crosshair in garage, after the battle ended. The other is, that the mouse pointer didn't move anymore (it's possible that I did the final killshot with auto-aim and the battle ended right after). I was only able to move the pointer, when holding down the left mouse button - went away after restarting the game though. These 2 only appeared once in that sample size. So, not really easy to reproduce, I assume.
  18. Probably didn't de-activate Show Vehicle Tier in the ingame menu Settings > General tab?
  19. Still no logs yet but from what it looks like, XVM isn't installed/loaded correctly. From what I know, that's usually due to the lack of permissions on your PC. Try running WoT as admin or check the links in this thread and see if they help: http://aslain.com/index.php?/topic/645-in-game-names-dont-appear-and-some-more-issues/
  20. You might have to attach some logs and/or pix, in order to convey your point and to help analyzing your situation. I don't mean to be rude or anything but what I basically read is "Something wasn't working and then I changed something and then it worked". This is not very helpful, in order to determine what's actually going on; let alone fixing it. It could be a number of things and unless you can specify concrete things that weren't working and the things you have adjusted on your own, it's a guessing-game as to what could be wrong. The only things that come to mind right now (which are things that usually go wrong when the PC isn't set up appropriately) are your Firewall/AntiVirus, which could be blocking some things from being installed or you using multiple locales, which can produce messed up files during installation. However, those are merely guesses at this point. If you can, please provide some more info to support your issue, so that it can be looked into more thoroughly.
  21. I think there were like 3 mods that were for polish clients only (usually marked with "PL" in their names). 2 of them I remember and am too lazy to check right now, which would be Radial Menu and Crew Details (or something like that). So check the mods you have installed and see if they refer to "polish" (or PL) language in their name. One of them is likely to cause this.
  22. Thx for the extra info. I'm not 100% sure if that's what it is but the most likely thing that I can think off, is that your stats change(d) too quickly for XVM to catch up with. Due to your low-ish battle-count you can increase or decrease your stats rather rapidly, if you play a certain number of good or bad games. When you have a lot of battles played already (10k, 20k, 30k, etc.) and play 50 with an extremely good WN8 rating, then your overall WN8 won't change all too much (maybe by like 10-20 points, if that even). If you only have a rather small amount of battles played, then those 50 games have a bigger impact on your rating and I would say that getting +-100 WN8 isn't all that impossible. You also have to consider that XVM takes at least 3 days to update your stats and can take up to 11 days, iirc. So if you have played a lot of games in that time, you can get those kinds of discrepancies, I suppose. I would have to have monitored your stats for longer than only "just now", in order to tell if that's actually the case here. But it would make sense. The difference can thus be explained and to me it looks like you had a good roll with decent tanks/tiers and accumulated the 1662 WN8. After that, you had some bad games (due to bad luck, bad day, stock tanks, playing solo instead of platoon etc.) and dropped some in your performance. XVM however, still has the data from your good period, as they haven't updated yet. On external sites though, they update several times daily, so they provide the most accurate/current data. Like I said though, I'm not sure if that's actually what's going on there but it would be an explanation. I would advise you to monitor this matter and see if it still persists in 1-2k more games. It might still be a bug with some mod but due to your rather low battle-count, it's more likely to be related to that.
  23. Firstly, I can't get any data on any stat-site with that tanker-name, for NA anyway. So, I can't even check it. Secondly, what "ingame stats" are you refering to exactly; the ones in the playerpanel (in battle) or the ones in you garage (session statistics)? If it's the latter, then it's, indeed, your more recent WN8 displayed "ingame" and not your total. Session statistics only display your WN8 for the session(s) in question (or a certain period of time), while external sites show you your total and the most recent results.
  24. By "app" you mean WoT itself, in the system messages area? If so, I had this a few months back as well. This got resolved for me by not using all sorts of programs while playing WoT (browser with lots of open tabs, especially). It might be caused by you, simply, not having enough RAM available (80-90% of the RAM in use) and the game warning you about it. Having little amounts of RAM (1-2GB in total) or running a 32bit OS (limiting max RAM to 3.2GB total, even if you have 16GB+ RAM installed) could be responsible; if you're not running tons of applications. Just my 2 cents, so see if it applies to you.
  25. Have you tried temporarily disabling your Firewall/AntiVirus and/or running the installer as Admin? Perhaps one of those is preventing the download of icons. To answer your question though: No, there isn't. Only other option would be backing up the DLC file yourself, once you've received it via a friend. You'd always have to get updates of them again, once there are changes. So, best would be to try the above and see if you can be helped in the bug/issues section, if it doesn't work.
