Constant Wheather caused game hang / port hang after a match

Hi dear author, 

I have met this problem similar to some who has reported earlier. My situations are a little bit different, there are 2 situations:

- 1 is that the game hangs after I manually quit a match after death or normally ends, it won't quit or show the match result, there is only a anchor sign and white line cirling around it, the loading sign. If I use Alt+F4, it shows "Do you want to quit the game?" So ,I think the process is not freezed, it can still somehow react with me.

- 2 is that I can successfully quit the match, but when I should be back at the port, the anchor sign is showing again and white line cirling around it, exactly as it shows in situation 1. Meanwhile, buttons at the port can be interact with, like I can open containers, but with the loading sign showing above the interface. Next time I meet this situation I will make screen shots.

 

And by the way, I read the other topic, so I did choose "Constant Wheather" only in this branch. This issue is still occuring, but not always, I guess it still has something to do with the map played. In my attachment, the map was played with storm, the mod did work though, sunshine in my sight. Tell me if you need any more details and I will keep monitoring if there is anything special.

Tried to reproduce it, but it's too complicated, probably too many factors are involed into this. The battle must have a certain weather triggered by the server etc. I couldn't force those conditions on my test. I need 100% repeatable method to trigger this bug.

 

I've been working on this mod and issue today, and created two new versions, it works slightly differently than before, as I used different approach (I don't replace weathers, I only disable their change, so you will most likely see the default weathers on all the maps)

 

If you like, please try, but first remove the Constant weather mod then unpack one of these to bin/8893005/

Check if you crash with the v2 and v3, let me know if the weather changes in your battles and if you crash. You can also install both v2 and the v3 at the same time for even better effect (but if you want to mix them, first try them separately. Please provide the feedback.

I am testing with your suggestions, just played 3 rounds PVE, Raptor Rescue, The Ultimate Frontier and Cherry Blossom, I just met this issue after Cherry Blossom, which this mod has done something to the gameplay. From now on I will inplement your mods and I will update later, hope I can help here.

 

Wait, do I understand this correctly, after uninstall original Contant Wheather mod, I copy the folder named spaces and put it into res_mods? The route will be like " bin/(gameversion, 8893305 on CN server)/res_mods/spaces ". Is that correct? And testing this seperatly means, after I test with v2, I delete the spaces v2 folder and put the v3 folder here, and combined means I will put v2 first here and then v3 but should I choose replace the same name file or keep the old?

Yes, this path. Just make sure it has a proper path after unpacking, not /res_mods/spaces/spaces/ or /res_mods/spaces/res_mods/spaces etc. 
 

Try playing a bit with v2 and let me know if it stops the weather visuals from changing and if the game still crashes like it did with the original mod.

Do the same with v3, and then combined v2+v3 (you don't have to overwrite files, because v2 and v3 has different files.

 

Maybe I will just add it to the modapck so everyone can try it out.

This operation Cherry Blossom is usually played during the night in game, so it should be dark, If I used the original Constant Wheather mod, it will not be played in night, but in normal sunshine. As I am testing the v2, just played 2 times this map, well, no issue or bug happened, but I dont know if this should be like that, the daytime is just as it should be without any mod, starting with night and changed to early morning during the game play. And I think I have put it in the correct path right?

 

I will keep testing v3 seperately tommorrow and let you know if anything happens.

I kinda have expected that the v2 will not stop the weather to change in the battle but I hopped it will, meh, it seem that it only affect the weather that you start the battle with, not the later shifts.

 

I have some hope for the v3 however, let me know, I'm curious, it's similar to the old mod, but it's less intrusive.

I tried v3 alone during yesterday and today. 

 

First, I played several random battles, good thing is the mod did something like you said, stop the wheather from changing, I am not a player who played this game for years, but I can tell that on some maps, the wheather that players just respawn is different when players starts to fire. For example, tears of dessert, the sunshine when player just respawn is kinda dazzling, but if without mod, the brightness will be at an accceptable level. But now with v3 mod, brightness stayed as it was when player just respawn. Personally, I dont like this. I think this not what players wished when they used the old Constant Wheather mod.

 

Second, I didn't play much, but there wasn't any bug in random battles or after them. Though I never played a map with storm or cyclones, unlucky. And another thing, after some maps played(I could't tell which exactly, but I will from now on mark them), when I am back to port, the list of ships at the bottom loads noticebly slower. Besides if you want a list of all the maps I have been played, I could do it tomorrow.

 

Third, Scenarios, or operations. Most maps are ok, these 2 I know that can 100% percent trigger that loading bug, Operation Hermes and Cherry Blossom. Operation Hermes has a storm cirlce and Cherry Blossom has that daytime changing from night to early morning. There is one map that sometimes trgger the bug, Rescue Raptor, strange thing is in that map, the wheather and daytime are not changing actually. 

 

If there is no more you want to know about v3 alone. I will start testing v2+v3 combined tomorrow.

Thanks for the feedback, so it's good and bad at the same time. I still don't know what is the problem with the old mod, it make no sense those problems after the battle.... maybe the problem is only in special modes, not in a regular battles.

 

Also the ship carousel issue, slow or empty it might be WG bug, they introduced it like 2 game versions before as sometimes when you start the game the carousel is completly missing.

I thoguht so, it less likely connected to the mods, but this was different when I use v2 alone, so just a report, not really affecting gameplay or visual. 

 

If you say so, I guess I will try use v2+v3 combined for a longer time to see if I can meet some games in random battle with storm or cyclones. Maybe I will be silent here for a while but I WILL BE BACK. 😄
