Crashing upon garage return

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have been having an issue lately with world of tanks where whenever I return to the garage either by manually exiting or by battle ending the game crashes before i even see the battle results screen. It doesnt even freeze it just instantly closes. This is the only time it ever crashes on me. It is not ever time however and i would say it happens more about 1 in 7 games or so. I am not 100% sure if this is an aslins issue or a wot issue or a hardware issue but the game ran fine without any mods. In addition I have run mod cleaner, reinstalled wot, and used the repair feature as well as updating all my drivers.

Crash in the logs sent should be around 12:24 - 12:28 I believe

I hope I have laid all this out correctly in accordance to the report guidelines

Computer specs if necessary

I9-13900K

RTX 4090

64Gb DDR5 ram

Asus z790 Hero maximus board

WoT is installed on a 2Tb EVO SSD

Thanks for detailed description and logs (nice specs!!!). I've checked the files you attached, and noticed that the game client has a problem connecting to the internet, or at least the logs indicate so. Sometimes this problem can cause the game to crash, especially in the case of some modifications that connect to the internet. The reason is most often some antivirus, possibly firewall. In some cases it's network problems.

Also sometimes the XVM server has some problems, and it can manifest itself by crashing in the way you described. Only then would more people report it, and most often it is temporary.

I have informed CHAMPi just in case, because of this:

2024-10-09 10:23:28.864: ERROR: Exception in thread Thread-175:

2024-10-09 10:23:28.864: ERROR: error: Error -3 while decompressing data: unknown compression method

It might be connected to the connection issue I described initialy, he will check this out. Anyway, he will take a look at it...

first of all thanks for the information and looking into this for me, I really appreciate it.

And it’s very Interesting, I did not expect internet issues to be causing this kind of fuss with the game but I’m just glad it’s not something wrong with my actual PC cause like I said it’s never just consistently crashed like this in games outside of Bethesda titles but that’s a different thing all together. I’m Ethernet-ed into my router which is fiber optic but I guess even a second disconnect can cause a crash like this?

assuming this is indeed caused by what you described is there anything that I can do now that would help stop or lessen the crashing or would it just be better to wait for a response from CHAMPi

You can remove XVM, and try to play for a while to see if you still crash, then attach new logs if you do. However first check your antivirus logs maybe it blocked something and you are not aware, similary with the firewall. If it's the other mods, then you do the same, but in this case you would have to remove all suspected mods, in this case it's CHAMPi's but maybe some other mod too, logs are not always showing affected mod name. Also, play as admin, and install as admin.

Message from CHAMPi:
try the following:

-close game client (wot)

-delete complete folder with content:

%appData%\Wargaming.net\WorldOfTanks\mods\champi\settingsgui\

- restart and check python.log for the error message (attach your python.log here)

If you do and the problem persists then it's probably not caused by CHAMPi's mods. I don't have any other ideas beyond what I've already posted here.

Just a little bit on an update. I did a complete reinstall of wot again and the modpack using my usual settings and still got crashes. I then reinstalled the modpack a second time but this time without any XVM branch items, but still using a bunch of non xvm items, been playing for a while now with no issues. will update if i end up crashing again even with these new settings

Maybe your connection to the XVM server is unstable and causing this. If it was a global problem with the XVM server I would probably receive many (more) reports like this.

well for now it seems fine without xvm so im willing to chock it up to connection issues. its unfortunate because i do enjoy a lot of the xvm related customization but the crashing was just getting too annoying to handle. hopefully this will be the end of investigating for me and i do appreciate the time you took to help me attempt to find a solution. cheers

Giving up from the XVM is very harsh, I would not accept it myself and keep seeking for a solution (try different PC, different ISP/network). Have you checked your antivirus or firewall if it's not interrupting something. Are you playing and installing it all on a windows admin account?

Hey Ive just found out about a possible issue that may be causing my strife and wanted to share incase it works. I looked over my logs and saw that a website called cat.wargaming.net was being called right before the error. i went to that website and its just an error screen so i did some digging and found out that there is another exe in the Wot directory under the win64 folder called wargamingerrormonitor.exe which attempts to send data about files to wargaming and when blocked or interrupted calls that error website and causes a crash. Im not gonna pretend that i understand much of this and it is second hand information, just thought id share it with you and see what you think.

I was having a similar issue. Game would crash when I'd get hit on a killing shot. I was also using the Clan rewards auto claim. I disabled that mod. No crashes so far. Will update if it crashes later on, but that appears to be the problem for me.

Attach logs, see my signature. Make sure you are using the latest modpack. Have you installed the 15m circle mod?

Welp, so much for that. Game crashed as I got hit by arty. Game crashed at 19:29. I have the proximity circle with xvm.

Not the proximity circle, not the minimap mod. The other 15m circle in the map, but I don't see it in your logs, so.

Cannot find any culprint in your logs.
