audsp98
This latest version (4.6.12) will not install for me. My AVG is catching a file (isslideshow.dll) in the patch saying it's a trojan horse. Haven't had this happen before. Is there something wrong with the patch or is it on my side? Quote Link to comment
stussy
aslain said earlier in the shoutbox that it's a false positive. the weird thing is, the modpack hasn't been updated in a few days now. i installed the current version right after it released and didn't get any malware warnings. audsp98
Thanks! I didn't see the shoutbox message before posting... Quote Link to comment
stussy
it was very early during NA time. Quote Link to comment
audsp98
Thanks for the help. I'm not able to ignore it with AVG so I'll just wait and see if in the next few patches it goes away. Quote Link to comment
stussy
there should be a way to white list it in avg. i've had to do that previously. but i'm not sure with the current version of avg, as i haven't had to do that in a while. Quote Link to comment
audsp98
I'll look into it and see what I can find Quote Link to comment
Administrator Aslain Posted September 18, 2015 Administrator Share Posted September 18, 2015 Heuristics is the most crappy detection method ever invented, it's so stupid, there was maybe one time in my life, like 15 years ago it tagged file positively to me, since then it's causing problems only. 2 Quote Link to comment
HAWGHEAD
I'm having the same, if not more problems. I've not had issues in the past ignoring warnings., but now after you ignore you still cant run update. Win10, AVG, and runtime aren't playing well with each other today. I do hope however, that Aslain is getting at least a nickel for every of the 23 clicks advertised to get past the popup. If not, we're all getting screwed. Other than that, its a great day for the race! Again, I've been able to get past false positives in the past, not today. Edited September 18, 2015 by HAWGHEAD Quote Link to comment
stussy
if nothing else works, then install in safe mode, perhaps? NOTE: do not attempt this unless you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the file is safe. furthermore, be sure that you know what you're doing before pursuing this avenue. audsp98
I seem to recall being able to ignore these things before but AVG is not letting me do it anymore Quote Link to comment
HAWGHEAD
Simply disable AVG before you run, then enable at the "select components" screen worked for me. If AVG is not running, it cant detect. Edited September 18, 2015 by HAWGHEAD Quote Link to comment
qball47
Same problem. Win 10, AVG, and runtime are fubar. I have tried adding items to AVG from previous issues but have not had success since the installer uses a new temp folder each time and AVG sees it as a different install. Usually if I tell AVG to protect, the installer still runs. Not this time, now I get a runtime error and cannot continue. Previously AVG had issues with 7za.exe, now it's with a dll file. qball47
Excellent suggestion HAWGHEAD, worked like a charm. I had forgotten that AVG had that feature. Disabled for 10 minutes and install complete. Quote Link to comment
