AVG says Trojan Horse?

I just started using your mudpack a few weeks ago and love it.  Then I switched to AVG virus protection and every time it comes up saying there is a Trojan horse connected with this.  I realize it could be wrong but any ideas here?  I really want to use your modpack

You could temporarily add the temp folder that contains the dll that AVG bitches about, to the exception list.

And once you've installed, take it off the exception list again.

 

That way you won't have to completely pause the scanning, but only ask it to ignore the temp folder temporarily.

Thanks very much.  I attempted to ignore this "threat" but I then was unable to continue with opening the program.  Not exactly sure how to add the temp folder to the exception list as you mentioned.

Never mind....added to the exception list...still unable to open...installed Avast...uninstalled AVG....modpack works fine again lol.

 

Why did I switch to AVG anyway?  Thanks for your help.

You were mentally insane for a moment, installed AVG, and then became sane again, and installed Avast :P lol...

 

I saw a news article the other day, mentioning AVG is selling your "non-personal" data... which includes browsing history and what not. I'd call browsing history personal, but eh... :P

Too bad more players don't scan topics in this forum for what they're looking for, 30 seconds of searching would save you guys a lot of time.  Here is a workaround:

 

After downloading modpack and choosing to run, the screen which asks you to choose language is where you should disable AVG for 10 minutes by rt clicking on the AVG icon in your system tray.  On the installer, click on appropriate language, then click to next screen which is "select components" screen.  Before actually choosing which mods you are about to install, this is where you should ENABLE AVG. Then make your mod selections and finish out as in the past.  This way, AVG is scanning the mods you are downloading for those that may fear downloading any file without AVG protection. ​ As stated several times here, this is a false positive.​
