<FIXED/WORKAROUND> Mod installer not installing large mods

Recommended Posts

Ever since I started playing World of Warships again I've been using this mod pack and every time I tried to install the special ports and every time I load up the game and it's not there.

I just did a clean install and deleted the DLC cache (I normally do a clean install but generally don't delete the DLC cache, I don't really know what that does) and sat here and watched it download the mod files.  Sure enough, when downloading the ports it cuts out after around 20mB and skips it and then it did the same thing for the intro movie I selected.

This is probably the same thing that was posted in German just a bit earlier.  Please assist.

Okay, well, I looked a bit more thoroughly through the threads on this subforum and I can see I'm not the only person that this is happening to.  I live in Australia and I'll be the first to admit that my internet is slow (300kB/s), but it's not unstable.  I work in IT and I'd be quite surprised if something so consistent was a result of my connection.  Anyway, I'm looking at the following thread and hopefully it will help me but I feel like there's definitely something wrong with the installer itself.

Well, I just tried downloading the raw files from http://rtor.nyx.feralhosting.com/files/Warships/.

This didn't work, it still cuts out and then finalises the download at around 20mB.  I ran a constant ping and received awful latency but relatively little packet lost during this time.

It seems like something's closing the connection rather than a timeout.

  Ping statistics for 185.21.216.152:
    Packets: Sent = 169, Received = 167, Lost = 2 (1% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 330ms, Maximum = 673ms, Average = 546ms

I can't imagine this is going to be fixed any time soon so I guess I've got to download wget and figure out how to use it.

Well, I've downloaded WGET and it was a bit annoying but I got it going with the help of this guide:

http://noahcoad.com/post/614/using-wget-on-windows

Anyone else having issues with this, watch the video in this guide and it'll pretty much show you how to install wget from start to finish.

You can then open CMD.EXE and use the WGET command to force the download files of your choice from http://rtor.nyx.feralhosting.com/files/Warships/

For example, I want the Master Port Collection file so I find it in the feralhosting Warships repository and right click to copy the link.

I then open CMD.EXE and type "WGET http://rtor.nyx.feralhosting.com/files/Warships/port_MasterPortCollection_5111.7z" (without quotes) and then press enter.

And VOILA!  It downloads successfully.

Now I have to figure out where I'm supposed to put this file but that's the easy part.

Consider this thread resolved I guess, though I wish someone would fix this problem without a workaround like this.  I bet a different hosting service would solve this.
