Installation Crash - missing p.bat

Recommended Posts

I'm having repeated installation crashes that started last night with update .3 and have continued with update.4.

When the installation process gets almost to the end I receive a "missing file error  .../res_mods/xvm/configs/aslain/p.bat"

I have tried the integrity checker settings in the launcher.

Files attached.

Thanks!

3.9.25 was the last install that worked. The problem started last night after the new 9.4 game release. Could it be that the launcher is crashing before the logs are updated?

When the crash happens I have to go into Task Manager and stop the process to get the error message off the screen. Maybe that aborts the log update?

What proces name was hanging on?

In my opinion it's your PC blocking the installer, doesn't really matters  if you had it working just one version ago. The p.bat wasn't copied to proper folder, so the installer cannot run it. Reasons are usually AV apps and alike things installed to system.

I just tried installing again after disabling AV. Same result. This computer is only 10 days old and I can't think of anything that has been installed since the last successful installation of the mod.

The process that I have to end in order to clear the error message is Aslains_XVM_Mod_Installer   (Setup/Uninstall).

I've been using another mod, but miss yours and tried installing it again yesterday. Same result as above. All anti virus apps were disabled at the time.

Something occurred to me yesterday that I should have asked before. Is P.BAT part of the installer or is it being called by one of the mods or mod options that I'm picking?

If I could solve this by unchecking an option or two in the installer, that would be great!

Thanks.

P.bat is essential, just like extractor.bat and p.exe, and sed.exe.

If p.bat cannot be found, still means that something in pc blocked the installation process :( Despite your claim about disabled AV's, maybe there is something else, admin rights, proper priviledges etc.

Maybe. I know there isn't an AV issue and I run the installer as an admin. I gather p.bat is a function of the installer. So, I guess there's nothing I can do other than get used to using a mod that isn't as nice as yours, but works.

If everything is set correctly on your computer, then it should work. If the p.bat is missing, that means the installer wasn't able to unpack and copy that file to a folder. Folder might be locked, file might be locked, everything could happen on this computer. Have you tried to restart the pc?
