  1. If I am playing arty and wish to aim to a certain spot on the map, I can right click in the mini map (where there are no tanks) and instantly my aim point is moved to that spot.  This works great, but often I see in the chat that I have either inadvertently clicked on an ally tank and asked him to "Follow me!", or I have indicated that I am targeting an enemy tank.  These tanks are somewhere in between my arty and the spot I have clicked on the map.  But, these tanks are no where near the actual spot where I clicked.  Very often, they are maybe 50m in front of me and the spot where I clicked is maybe 800m away.  This is very annoying to me as well as my teammates.

Any ideas on how to correct this problem?  It would be ok to remove the follow me function as being an arty only player, I almost never ask anyone to follow me....lol.

I also understand that maybe because I am truly a professional "clicker" that my clicking is so powerful that it may be that I just do not know my own clicking strength.... B)

    Thanks for any assistance.

  2. I think that in 9.9 there was a change of some kind in the information WG provided about shell travel time and none of the arty sights had this information for a while.  But, now some have this information and some do not.  I use J1mbo's with 1 circle with the ProArty SPG Crosshair option selected.  ProArty has the shell travel time.  I think that the Sword of Damocles SPG crosshair also has shell travel time in case you do not like ProArty.  I know Sword of Damocles had shell travel time in 9.9, but I have not tried it in 9.10 because I really like ProArty a lot.

  3. After win 10 install I am now unable to download any new features from the installer as I get a message my connection has timed out and I need to reconnect?

Is there a security setting in win 10 I need to change so as to connect to aslains update server?

I also have win 10 (pro), but I have not experienced this issue.  Have you tried downloading at a later time?  Which browser are you using?  I am using Firefox and do not have the problem.  There are reports on the internet of people experiencing problems such as crashes etc with Edge.

  4. Please add the SPG sight options back to J1mbos sights, especially Sword of Damocles and ProArty (I believe this was the name of it).  Sword of Damocles has a new version for 9.9 that displays the correct shell travel time.  It is version 7.15.  The current version in the modpack is v7.14 and does not display shell travel time in the spg sight.

Once again, this request is meant for AFTER your holidays Aslain.

    Thanks

  5. I have a dislike for arty for better or worse.  That is not the point of this post.  I simply want to know if this happens to everyone, or just me.

I finally find a target, he is sitting perfectly still, and I wait for the aim circle to completely close (6 - 15 seconds), then CLICK, and he takes off.   It's as if sixth sense is warning him that I pulled trigger instead of warning him when he is spotted.  If however, I shoot before the aim circle is fully closed the shot ALWAYS misses as bad as is possible, even at a range of 25 metres.

It happens very often (to the point where long-ago I just stopped playing arty.

So, does this happen to anyone else?

I think that it has to do with the habits of you as well as your target.  From watching tanks through the arty sight for over 20k battles, most good tank drivers seem to always fire then move...stop to finish reloading in "safety" and then move back into firing position.  Getting back into firing position, finding their next target and waiting on their aim circle is usually a bit faster than the aim time of most arties.  Therefore you aim at them and wait, but they have acquired their target, aimed, fired and are beginning to move by the time arty gets fully aimed.  So what to do?  Well, playing most arties is very much an exercise in patience and self control for me.  You have to study your target for a bit.  Most "average" and below "average" tank drivers are creatures of habit.  This fire, retreat and reload, return, aim and fire again cycle is the same over and over for them.  So, if you watch this cycle a time or two, you may be able to have a feeling for the rhythm and adjust your timing.  Some players will move immediately after firing and others will sit and wait for their shell to land before moving.  This is all important information if you wish to do better in arty.

  6. Actually there are mods that some use to tell them when they are aimed at. They can also tell them when you are ready to fire. You will be able to tell if someone has one by watching what they do. If they sit there but move as soon as you aim at them, wait untill they stop. Try aiming again if they repeat then they may be getting help. Note that 6th sense will warn them but there is a built in delay for that to happen.

Do you have a link to one of these mods?  I have read where people say that such mods exist but nobody has ever shown where it is available.  I believe that such mods are only a myth.  Some players have learned not to sit still long enough for arty to get aimed and when they move, they have learned to move more than the splash circle of the arty shell.  This frustrates the crap out of me as I am an arty only player...lol.

As far as RNG in the arty game, after over 20k battles in arty, I believe that the biggest RNG in the game is the player driving the tank that I am aiming at.

  7. They are not always bots.  Yesterday I was in a tier IX battle and there was a tier IX tank, cant remember what it was, but the player had an 86 WN8 with several thousand battles.  I thought it was a bot and requested that he be reported as a bot only to have the player call me an idiot in chat for calling him a bot....lol.   I suggested that he find a good bot to improve his stats....of course, he did not like that either.

  8. Thanks Aslain.  I used the v1 files from the World of Tanks forum YK page and it works so far.

_Jeso_ who is the person maintaining this mod has stated that this will be his last version as he is giving it up after 2 years.  Maybe someone here could take it up and maintain it for the future.

Here is his message from the WG forums:

"Mod updated for WoT 0.9.8 Final.

This will probably be my last update as I lost interest in WoT. I've been doing updates for this mod over 2 years now and I feel it's time to take a step back. I would like to thank all users for all the support and ideas during the years, thank you, it was you that kept me going. If somebody would like to continue updating this mod, you're more than welcome. The source code and my working environment can be downloaded in first post. Thanks again, maybe we'll see each other in an other game.

    Yours sincerely,

    Jeso"
