Broken crosshairs, need alternative/better mod pack

Hey so I'm having major problems with j1mb0s' crosshairs 1.43 and I need to figure out if it's him or this mod pack doing it. I have uninstalled, cleaned, cleared, reinstalled, reinstalled using different options, etc. I have even downloaded his crosshair mod via Curse manually, but the problem persists. I need to figure out if it's part of this mod pack and alterations to the GUI/aiming that causes the crosshair mods to break. 

 

If it is a problem with this pack, what's a good alternative to this that I can try out?

There is a global issue with reload counter, no matter what crosshair.
