allyourbase51 Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 (edited) I've been encountering this problem since updating to v.3.8.13, everything in the modpack, except the things directly related to XVM will work, but XVM itself, and the hitlog will not function. Log files as of 20/8/2014 11:34 PM UTC -6 attached Pertinent screenshots - http://imgur.com/a/qHStp EDIT - Almace's solution seems to have worked for me. The symbols are on line 1 of the file "alpha.xc," which can be opened up with notepad, or in my case, notepad++ _Aslain_logs.zip python.log Edited August 21, 2014 by allyourbase51
Administrator Aslain Posted August 21, 2014 Administrator Posted August 21, 2014 This is nasty issue, happens only on certain computers I could not reproduce this on my PC
allyourbase51 Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 happens only on certain computers That's what I was afraid of. And i guess that means there's no fix until someone else can reproduce and figure it out. Ty for prompt response.
Administrator Aslain Posted August 21, 2014 Administrator Posted August 21, 2014 That's what I was afraid of. And i guess that means there's no fix until someone else can reproduce and figure it out. Ty for prompt response. Could you attach the rest of logs, like XVM.log and please attach the faulty file, which is probably this alpha.xc
allyourbase51 Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 Here's the log and .xc file. I had to pack the .xc into a .rar, because it wouldn't let me upload it as-is. xvm.log alphaxc.rar
Almace Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Can prolly be fixed if you delete the 2 signs before the { in the alpha.xc (in line #1). There might be more files corrupted though. Do you use like an unusual setup (for NA) on your PC, like asian language (in windows) or russian/asian WoT client?
allyourbase51 Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 I use a standard NA client, but I do occasionally switch locale to Japan, because some of the visual novels I have require non-unicode text to be in Japanese in order to run correctly. Before I made this post, I realized that could be it, and i switched it back to US, but that didn't help. In any case, deleting the two symbols seems to have fixed it, XVM is now working properly, and the auto-log-on mod, which i didn't even realize wasn't working, is working again as well. Thanks a ton, Almace. 1
Almace Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Did you only switch the language back and tried to start WoT or did you try to install the modpack again with english language? Because doing the latter would probably be required, in order not to create corrupted files in the first place. E: And, np! I'm so impolite. >_<
allyourbase51 Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 I did not try reinstalling after switching the locale back. I suppose that is something I probably should have realized.
Administrator Aslain Posted August 21, 2014 Administrator Posted August 21, 2014 This issue is related to the languages in the system, and their regional settings, on certain setup the installer (jscript nor diff-patch) fails to properly process some files and the output is corrupted sometimes. 1
Khalem Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Seems this issue also occurs using English GB locale :\ I'll try switching to US later and see if that helps. [edit] Setting to English US locale also gives the same error :( And yes, did a full clean install.
