Smoke Circles

v5.4.0.01 (26-03-2016):
- added Smoke screen boundaries (by Tarki_Tau) [DLC] [it's a test version, might be buggy!]
- added semi-transparent fading minimap by fugetsu
- updated Extended Tech-Tree

 

 

Pretty sure when he put in the bolded to the update notes.. it was expected it would be buggy.

 

Also.. the same issues as before?? different issues.. a little more info would probably help.

For me it is the same issue as before, the game locks up upon exiting a match.

Is he notified at all? He might not be aware of the issue or something.

 

If he is, I'd love to hear some input from him about what he thinks is causing problems, someone might be able to help.

 

This mod makes me sad for being broken, it's THE most useful mod in game imho. I consider it a thing that should be implemented in game by default, not only as part of mod pack. Smoke is nearly impossible to see from within, no matter what I do with the settings.

 

 

edit: sadly, GUI refresh rate doesn't help me one bit, hangs every time I exit the match.

I only wonder why the maker of smoke circles cannot fix it for such long time, especialy that he is also official WoWs developer.

 

Especially odd that a marker for graphics (circles for the smoke) would cause issues that make program hang. Such behavior from a rather benign visual effect would indicate to me that there are underlying stability issues in WoWs. The game is obviously still a major work in progress.

When I read his topic, there are many posts from people who got issues, so yeah he definitely knows about it.

FYI, the latest smoke circles mod in today's Mod Pock [v5.4.1.01 (03.04.2016)] caused WoWs to crash as soon as I opened the program. See attached error message.nbxeyYI.png

 

Reloaded the smoke mod with the "dirty" update (4-4-2016) and got the same crash error as  I reported earlier.

Working well for me on SEA server, rings even show up on navigation map (the one after you press M and can plot your course).

As Aslain linked to a forum post that stated:

 

NA is on version 54.157145 because of the basketball thing, EU, Asia, RU is on version 54.157143.

This means script-related mods like camera mods WILL NOT WORK on NA if it's made for 143 (EU/Asia/RU,) and it WILL NOT WORK on the other clusters if it's made for 145 (NA.)

It also means that the NA client cannot connect to EU, Asia, RU servers, vice versa those cannot connect to the NA server.

Similarly the smoke circle mod will probably break the NA port/event since it's based on build 143, not 145 and will lack the basketball camos, the xvm mod will also not work.

 

This is a deja-vu from the Halloween Event.

 

So yes, the molds works on the SEA server.

 

However, that said, it says something that WoWs breaks so easily. Never mind the fact that it wouldn't be a necessary mod if WG would just render smoke properly so you could see your own smoke screen. I mean really, as a practicing engineer that speaks to me as a rather low competence level.
