300ConfirmedKills
Windows popped up with an alert regarding a trojan by the name of Occamy.C. The notification says that mxstat.exe was affected. Whether this means the malware was hidden within MxStat or MxStat was a victim of Occamy, I do not know. I have quarantined the affected files. Please let me know if you have any information on this subject. I'd attach an image, but it doesn't seem to be working, so here's a link to it: https://imgur.com/3HIdI3P Quote Link to comment
Moderator Quaksen Posted April 4, 2020 Moderator Share Posted April 4, 2020 False positive. The same was reported on Discord, and the answer was that there, so just reposting that here. 2 Quote Link to comment
300ConfirmedKills
Is there any more detailed information about this, or do I just have your word to go on? Quote Link to comment
Administrator Aslain Posted April 4, 2020 Administrator Share Posted April 4, 2020 It's just false-positive, what do you want to hear more? Quote Link to comment
TST_V
I have mxstat installed and didn't receive a warning from Avast. And I just scanned it again without issue. You can use online scanner to check the file, if you're worried. Or not install it. Quote Link to comment
Administrator Aslain Posted April 4, 2020 Administrator Share Posted April 4, 2020 Mxstat is known from false-positive reactions, it may trigger a lot of heuristic scanners, even those online, but it means nothing in this case because it's safe. 1 Quote Link to comment
300ConfirmedKills
How do you know mxstat is safe? Is that simply what the author of mxstat told you, or did you discover the cause of the false-positive indications yourself? Quote Link to comment
Administrator Aslain Posted April 11, 2020 Administrator Share Posted April 11, 2020 1. I have very long experience with antivirus software and I know how many false-positives it's generating 2. I know the author personaly, he is serious person, known software developer 3. The author has an outstanding reputation with WG (he is always being invited to their modders meeting in WG HQ) 4. His app ("mod") is checked by WG with every update, and is officialy approved by WG (so is mine modpack). If you are in doubt speak with him on the WG forums, I'm not his advocate :) https://forum.worldofwarships.eu/topic/76592-tool-a-program-to-collect-and-analyze-personal-farm-of-exp-and-credits/ Quote Link to comment
