Install Error - modsettings.dat

Recommended Posts

In the process of installing the mods, I get the error "An error occurred while trying to rename a file in the destination directory" referring to modsettings.dat.  Location is C:\Users\<me>\AppData\Roaming\Wargaming.net\WorldOfTanks\modsetting.dat.  I've checked the permissions on that folder and they are full control.  I'm not sure what else needs to be checked.  Screenshot attached.  It notes that it cannot create a file when that file already exists, but I'm not sure what the expected outcome is.  I renamed the folder and it made a modsettings.dat file instead.  I re-ran the install to see if that would be accepted and it choked again on the same file.  To be clear, modsettings.dat was actually a folder when I started.  When I tried to fix, it became just a file.

The only thing turned on is "Delete all previous mods" and "Delete Python logs" and I still get the error.  What is the net effect of ignoring the error and proceeding?

i had the same issue , if u follow the path on your windows directory   , delete the folder that is named  on your screenshot and hit retry

I'm still getting the 183 error.  I've tried deleting the contents of my res_mods folder, and I only have "delete previous mods" checked in the installation.  I can get through it with the ignore button and I can launch a game, but I CTD and then can't get in.
